Vinayak won 250 Award & Prizes for Karnatak Classical Vocalist
Talent is ageless and so is the passion for music. It is the same dedication that has earned S A Vinayaka the title of Junior Balamurali Krishna. It’s no easy achievement for a 12-year-old.
On the stage, the prodigy can hold the audience in rapt attention with his melodious voice. So impressed was former President A P J Abdul Kalam by his performance at Raj Bhavan in Bangalore recently that he congratulated him personally. He even called upon Vinayaka’s parents to take him to Thiruvayar for a performance.
When music maestro M Balamurali Krishna was in Mysore to perform during Dasara few years ago, he identified the talent in Vinayaka and invited him for training in Chennai.
Starting his musical journey at 3, Vinayaka, 7th standard student of CFTRI school, has many awards to his credit. It all began when he accompanied his mother Shashikala to music classes conducted by Vijayalakshmi Manjunath. Seeing his interest in learning alaas and taalas, his parents S J Ashok and Shashikala sent him to Vijayalakshmi, who honed his talent for six to seven years. Now, he learns classical music from Vasantha Sundarajan and Devaranama and Vachanas with Amrutha Subramanyam.
